A Lightcast Alternative for
the Raw Postings
MixRank tracks 1.8B+ job postings. Every posting keeps its full original text, with salary on about 25% of US postings and seniority on 84% of postings across our full history back to 2021. New and changed records reach your feed every hour. And jobs come with people, company, and developer data in the same license.
Some buyers come to us to replace Lightcast. Others keep Lightcast for labor-market reporting and use MixRank as the raw data layer underneath. This page is for both.
The posting itself, not a model's reading of it
Full original text preserved on every record. New and changed records reach your feed every hour, with continuous history back to 2021.
People, company, and developer data in the same license
1.2B+ people profiles, 120M+ companies tracked, 268M+ developer profiles.
One flat price
Every dataset, every field, delivered in bulk. No seat counts. Redistribution rights included.

When teams like yours decide to bring MixRank in
You're building a product on top of labor-market data
You need redistribution rights and a bill that doesn't move when your customer count does. MixRank's flat license is built for builders.
Your models need the posting, not the summary
Normalized fields are someone else's interpretation. You want the original text so your own models do the interpreting.
Jobs is one of several signals you track
Hiring, headcount history, people. You'd rather get it all from one vendor than stitch together contracts.
Where Lightcast is the right call.
Lightcast has spent more than 25 years turning messy labor-market signals into a shared vocabulary. Their skills library covers 34,000+ skills, their occupation taxonomy spans 1,800+ roles, and both are normalized across 165 countries and 17 languages. In their 2026 Impact Report, drawn from a survey of about 1,000 customers, 90% of education customers said Lightcast influenced program review decisions and 75% of public-sector customers said it shaped policy. If you need a defensible, normalized labor-market number for a board, a legislature, or a program review, that is the product they built.
What they do well
A shared vocabulary for the labor market.
34,000+ skills and 1,800+ occupations, normalized across 165 countries and 17 languages, with software and consulting on top.
A number you can defend in the room.
90% of their education customers said Lightcast influenced program review decisions; 75% of public-sector customers said it shaped policy.
Pick Lightcast if:
You're a college, workforce board, or government agency that needs reports and benchmarks, not raw records.
You want the taxonomy itself: skills and occupations normalized across countries and languages, with software and consulting on top.
Your question is about distributions and trends, and you don't need the posting-level records underneath.
If none of these fits, read on. Most teams comparing us are really deciding between a modeled answer and the raw data itself. The next section is for them.
The question that decides the purchase
Lightcast's methodology is public, and it is deliberate. Their two-step deduplication removes most of the postings they collect, by design, because the product is a stable statistical read of the labor market. The OECD's 2024 review of Lightcast data lands in the same place: it found the data “better reflect distributions of vacancies than absolute levels.” If your work needs distributions, that tradeoff is fine. If your work needs the postings themselves, it decides the purchase. So the question is simple: do I need the model's answer, or the records it was built from?
The records themselves. We keep every posting, full original text preserved. You choose how to dedupe.
An intelligence layer. Postings deduplicated, normalized, and enriched into Lightcast taxonomies.
New and changed records reach your feed every hour, across every dataset.
Postings added daily. Profiles and core labor-market data updated quarterly.
Job postings back to 2021. People profiles to 2013.
25+ years of labor-market methodology. Historic postings reclassified every 4 weeks as taxonomies improve.
People, companies, developers. All in the same license.
Labor market only: postings, profiles, skills, compensation, government statistics.
One flat price. Every dataset, every record, delivered in bulk.
No public rate card. Annual contracts quoted through sales. Ask what redistribution rights add.
Re-pull the original records. The underlying text doesn't change.
All historic data is reclassified every 4 weeks, so a 2024 extract may not match a 2026 re-pull.
If you need the labor market explained, Lightcast has a 25-year head start. If you need the raw material to explain it yourself, that's the bet we made.
Test it on your own records.
The original-text test
Pick ten open roles at companies you know. Ask each vendor for the full posting text as published. Then ask which fields were inferred, normalized, or dropped before the record reached you.
The reclassification test
Ask both vendors whether last year's postings still carry the same categories. Lightcast reclassifies all historic postings with its latest taxonomies every four weeks, so last year's numbers can move. Ask what that means for your extracts.
The one-contract test
Write down everything you track about a company: its open roles, its headcount history. Ask each vendor how many contracts that takes.
