Why MixRank

Evaluating B2B data providers?
Start with the one that will
still be here in ten years.

We have customer contracts older than some of our competitors have existed. We are profitable, founder-owned, and we own every server the data runs on, so there is nobody above us setting a timeline. Read on to see why we believe MixRank should be your #1 choice. That’s the whole point of this page.

To the right, four claims most vendors ask you to take on trust. We would rather you check each one.

This is a real dataset page, not a claim.

The accuracy number looked strong and the sales call went well. Then, four weeks into the integration, you find out the one field your workflow depends on is populated a third of the time.

We would rather you know that up front. So we publish this, field by field, on every dataset page, before anyone asks about your budget. Check it against records you already know to be true.

On evaluating data providers

A short note, from us, about evaluating data providers.

01

Does the data hold up when you test it?

Run a real sample against your actual use case, not the demo path the vendor shows you. Marketing numbers are not data. The fastest version of this: pull twenty companies you already know well, where you can verify the headcount and the tech stack yourself, and check the vendor's records against what you know to be true. That tells you more in an afternoon than any published accuracy figure.

02

Will the team still care about you in year three?

The person closing your deal should be the person answering your questions 36 months from now. If you are handed off after signature, you will be handed off again, and again, until nobody owns your account.

03

Is the price you sign the price you will pay?

Vendor leverage flips once you have integrated. If you cannot get a straight answer on renewal pricing before you sign, you already have your answer.

04

Will they show you where the data is thin?

Every dataset has uneven coverage. Some fields fill in almost every time, others rarely do. A vendor who gives you one blended accuracy number for an entire dataset is hiding the field-level picture, whether they mean to or not. Ask for fill rates field by field. We publish ours on every dataset page before you talk to anyone, including the unflattering ones.

How we are built

The category’s usual shape, next to ours.

Five years from now

Pick the data provider you will still trust five years later.

None of these are hypothetical. Every one is something a buyer has told us went wrong somewhere else.

Coverage
fill rate

You built the workflow, then you found the field was empty.

A vendor quotes an accuracy figure for the whole dataset, and it sounds strong enough to move on. So you sign, you build, and a month later you discover the one field your workflow actually depends on is populated a third of the time. That happens because a blended accuracy number hides the thing you needed to know.

Some fields fill in almost every time. Others rarely do. Averaging them produces a number that is technically accurate and practically useless. We publish fill rates field by field, on every dataset page, before you talk to anyone.

Email is 23 percent globally and 41 percent in the US, and that is what we print, because that is what it is. You can look at that, decide it does not clear the bar for your use case, and walk away. We would rather that happen now than after you have shipped something on top of it.

Pricing
flat rate

The quote was fine, but the invoice at scale was not.

The complaint that comes up most often about data vendors is not that the price is high. It is what the price becomes six months later, once you are running at real volume, or once you learn the refresh rate you assumed came standard is the tier above the one you bought.

The number in the contract was accurate. It just was not the number you ended up paying. We do not tier by refresh speed. Every customer is on hourly at one flat rate.

There is no premium plan that unlocks faster updates, because there is no slower plan underneath it. What you scope on the first call is what you are working with when you are running at scale.

Usability
de-dup

Your first sprint went to de-duplicating records, not using them.

Ask anyone who has bought data from more than one provider about the distance between delivered and usable. Duplicate profiles pile up, the same person shows up twice under a changed profile URL, and an ops team ends up spending hours a week reconciling records by hand.

We assign a stable unique ID to every person and company, and maintain a mapping table of every profile URL we have ever seen for them. When someone changes their vanity URL, the mapping resolves it back to the same ID instead of creating a second record.

If you are carrying records from a previous provider, you can map those against our IDs to collapse the duplicates you already know. Integrating multiple datasets into your own systems still takes real work, and we will tell you that on the first call rather than after you have signed.

Delivered by API, flat file, or into Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Postgres, whichever you already run.

Freshness + History
one feed

You are paying two vendors to cover one record.

Most providers are strong at one end of this and thin at the other. Some offer a fast real-time API with almost no history behind it. Others hold deep archives that update on a slow cycle.

If your use case needs both, and most do eventually, you end up running two contracts, two integrations, and two sets of records that do not quite agree with each other.

Every dataset we run refreshes hourly and carries history going back years, in some cases to 2008. A role change shows up the day it happens, and the same record lets you chart what that company’s hiring looked like since 2021.

Independence
long term

Your provider gets acquired. Now what happens to your roadmap?

A provider gets acquired, or takes a round that changes what the board wants, and the roadmap you built against quietly becomes somebody else’s priority. You usually find out at renewal. This is harder to put in a comparison table than anything else on this page, and it tends to matter more than most of what goes in one.

We have been founder-led since 2011, with no outside board setting the roadmap and no exit clock running behind the scenes. When you build on someone’s data, you are betting they will still exist, still be structured the same way, and still care about the same things at renewal.

Some of the platforms buying from us today signed on close to a decade ago and have not had a reason to revisit that.

Support
direct line

The ticket is still open and nobody has looked at it.

A field looks wrong, so you file a ticket, and what comes back is a case number, an autoresponder, and three suggested help articles. Four days later someone asks you to confirm the thing you already explained in the first message.

Your message goes to Scott and Aswin directly. Not a queue or a bot standing between you and a person. That has been true since the company was two people and it has not changed as it has grown, which means the person reading your message is someone who can actually do something about it.

Customer outcomes

What customers have actually achieved with our data.

Not projections. Results customers have put their names to, over relationships measured in years, not quarters.

In 15 years, we have never lost a customer because another vendor had better data. Our longest customer has been with us for 12 years.

binding on every enterprise contract
  1. 1.

BindingNo surprise price increases. The price structure in your contract is the price structure at renewal, never a number pulled out of nowhere.

  2. 2.

BindingThe person who closes your deal is the person who picks up your calls in year three.

  3. 3.

BindingFor enterprise customers, our team, including our founders, are in your Slack or Microsoft Teams workspace.

  4. 4.

BindingNo high-pressure sales. We optimize for decade-long partnerships, not quarterly revenue. We do not have quarterly incentives to hit.

  5. 5.

BindingIf another vendor is genuinely better for your specific use case, we will tell you, and recommend them.

In closing

Over 15 years, we have done a lot more than sell data. We have hopped on customer fundraising calls to vouch for them. Our data has shown up in their pitch decks. We have advocated for our customers to their own end customers. We have helped financially when customers hit rough patches. When we say we are in this with you, we mean it. A one-year deal does not excite us. A decade-long partnership does.

Our stance

We are not going to tell you who is worse.

We know the data space is noisy. Most comparison pages you will read today, including ones written about us, are not accurate. So, we would rather not write another one.

If you find another vendor who does all of those things better than we do, you should work with them. We are on friendly terms with most companies in this space, and we will tell you if one of them is a better fit for your specific need.

We are only interested in relationships that last a decade.

Common questions we get

The questions we get most.

The short answers. The longer ones live on the dataset pages, where you can check them.

How is the data delivered?
Query it directly through our REST API, or pull it straight into Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift the same way you'd share data with any other team. Running Postgres? We connect directly. Prefer flat files? JSONL or CSV, delivered wherever you need them, including straight into S3. We match your stack, not the other way around.
How fresh is the data?
Most datasets refresh hourly, with change history reaching back to when each dataset started, 2008 for apps and 2013 for people and companies. We will run a freshness test against your specific entities before you sign.
How does pricing work?
Custom, because customer needs are custom. The number on your contract is the number on your renewal. No surprise increases.
Are you GDPR and CCPA compliant?
Yes, both. Only publicly available business data. No private information.
What does support look like after we sign?
The person who closed your deal handles your questions going forward. For enterprise customers, our team and our founders join your Slack or Teams workspace.
How do I know where the data is thin?
Fill rates are published field by field on every dataset page. Not one blended number for the whole dataset, the actual per-field picture, including the fields where coverage is low. You can check before you talk to anyone.
Talk to our data team

Let’s see if we are a fit.

Give us 30 minutes and we will send you a schema and a real data sample for your actual use case before we ever get on the call.

Bring us the fields you actually care about and we will pull coverage on those specifically, not a general walkthrough.

Founders read every message from the form directly and respond within 24 hours. No chatbots, no auto-responders, no ticket queues.
