Why MixRank

Choose a B2B data provider that will\
still have your back in 10 years.
=================================

Right now you probably have three or four tabs open, and two of those vendors read almost identically (we know that because buyers forward us the other decks).

So we are not going to tell you who is worse. What we can do is hand you the questions that separate us, and then you go ask all of them the same ones. If somebody answers better than we do, work with them.

We are profitable, founder-owned, and we own every server our data runs on, which means there is nobody above us setting a timeline. That is most of why we are still here.

Every B2B data vendor makes claims, but ours are the ones we will hand you evidence for on our first call.

## Does this sound too familiar?

The accuracy number looked strong and the call went well, so you signed.

Four weeks into the build, someone on your team opens the file, sorts by the field the whole workflow depends on, and finds it populated about a third of the time.

Nobody lied to you. The number was just an average, and averages are where the awkward fields go to hide.

Which is why we publish this instead. Field by field, on every dataset page, before anyone asks.

A couple of the larger providers do something similar and you should go and look at theirs too, because what matters is that you are comparing the same thing across rather than holding one blended number up against another.

On evaluating data providers

## What matters most to our clients when they’re evaluating data providers

This is how our top customers evaluated us by the way…

01

### Does the data hold up when you test it?

Test it against your real use case rather than the demo path we walk you through, because we all walk you down a path that works.

The quickest version takes an afternoon where you pick 20 companies you already know cold, check the headcount and the stack yourself, then see what each vendor says about them. That will tell you more than any published accuracy figure.

02

### Will the team still care about you in year 3?

The person closing your deal should be the person picking up your call 36 months from now, so ask who that is, and then watch how long the pause runs before the answer comes.

03

### Is the price you sign the price you will pay?

Your bargaining power flips the day the integration ships, which is why the renewal conversation belongs now rather than then.

Ask whether renewal happens at the price you agreed or at a then-current rate, whether there is a cap written down, and what becomes of the volume you did not use.

If nobody will answer that while you are still deciding, you already have your answer.

04

### Will they show you where the data is thin?

Every dataset is uneven. Some fields fill in almost every time and others rarely do, and a single blended figure for the whole thing quietly averages that away.

So ask for fill rates field by field. Ours sit on every dataset page, including the ones that do us no favors.

The MixRank column is factual. The right-hand column describes patterns buyers have reported to us rather than any single named vendor, and some providers do better than this on some rows.

Five years from now

## Pick the data provider you will still trust five years later.

Every one of these scenarios is something a buyer has told us went wrong somewhere else and why they came to us instead…

Coverage & fill rate

fill rate

### You built the workflow, then you found the field was empty.

The figure you were quoted covered the whole dataset and it sounded fine, so you signed and you built. Then a month in, somebody sorts the file by the one column the workflow actually leans on, and about two thirds of the rows come back blank.

That is what a blended number does. It averages the field you needed against forty you never asked about, and the forty carry the average.

How we handle it

So ours go up [field by field](/datasets/people-data/), before you speak to anyone. Email is 23% globally and 41% in the US, and we print that because that is what it is.

You are welcome to look at it, decide it does not clear your bar, and walk away, which we would much rather happened today than after you have shipped something on top of it.

[Learn more →](/datasets/people-data/)

Pricing

flat rate

### The quote was fine, but the invoice at scale was not.

The number in the contract was accurate. It just was not the number you ended up paying, and usually that is structural rather than anybody acting in bad faith.

If refresh speed sits in a higher tier, then the moment your data starts to matter more, it starts to cost more. The pricing did what it was designed to do.

How we handle it

We do not tier by refresh, so everybody gets hourly update files at one flat rate. There is no premium plan that unlocks faster updates, because there is no slower plan underneath it, which means what you scope on the first call is what you are still running on at scale.

Usability & de-duplication

de-dup

### Your first sprint went to de-duplicating records, not using them.

Ask anyone who has bought from two providers and they will tell you the same story. The same person turns up twice because they changed their profile URL.

And now somebody on your ops team is spending their Thursdays reconciling records by hand, which is not what anybody hired them for.

How we handle it

So we give every person and company a stable ID, and we keep a mapping table of every profile URL we have ever seen attached to them. Change your vanity URL and it resolves back to the same ID rather than spawning a second record.

If you are carrying records over from a previous provider, you can map those against our IDs and collapse the duplicates you already know about.

Merging datasets into your own systems is still real work though, and we would rather say that on the first call than after you have signed.

[Learn more →](/datasets/people-data/)

Freshness & history

one feed

### You are paying two vendors to cover one record.

Most providers are strong at one end of this and thin at the other. Some have a fast API with almost no history sitting behind it, while others hold deep archives that only move on a slow cycle.

So you buy both, and now it is two contracts, two integrations, and two sets of records that do not quite agree with each other.

How we handle it

Every dataset ships hourly update files and carries history going back years, in some cases as far as 2008. Once we pick up a role change, it ships in your next hourly update file, and the same record will chart what that company’s hiring looked like since 2021.

Every profile carries a last-touched timestamp too, which means you never have to take our word for any of it.

[Learn more →](/datasets/people-data/)

Independence

long term

### Your provider gets acquired. Now what happens to your roadmap?

A provider takes a round, or gets bought, and what the board wants changes. The roadmap you built against slowly becomes somebody else’s priority, and you usually find out at renewal, in a call with someone you have never met before.

This one is hard to put in a table, because nothing else on this page can prove it. It also tends to matter more than most of what we can prove.

How we handle it

So we’ll tell you ours, plainly. Founder-led since 2011, with no outside board setting the roadmap and no exit clock ticking behind the scenes.

We turned profitable a few years back and we have been growing off of our own money since. There are platforms buying from us today who signed close to a decade ago and have never had a reason to revisit it.

[Learn more →](/about/)

Support

direct line

### The ticket is still open and nobody has looked at it.

A field looks wrong, so you file a ticket, and back comes a case number, an autoresponder, and three suggested help articles that have nothing to do with your problem. Four days later somebody asks you to confirm the thing you already explained in the first message.

How we handle it

[Your message](/get-started/) here gets read by our founders, Scott and Aswin, with no queue and no bot in between, and when you sign we open a shared Slack channel between your engineers and ours.

That was true when this company was two people and it is still true at 70-plus, which is really the point; whoever reads your message can actually do something about it.

[What support looks like after you sign →](#faq)

Cost of switching

overlap

### It was never the price. It was your next two sprints.

This is the objection that actually stops deals, and no comparison page in this category will go near it, so we decided to go there.

A customer put it better than we could. Her engineering team was already booked out for months, and switching meant going back to reprioritize everything, which she said is always a mess.

The savings were real. So was the disruption, and it was landing on people who had not asked for any of it. That is the part nobody puts in a quote.

How we handle it

We would rather carry some of it than pretend it is not there. So you start on search access mapped to the fields you already use, which lets your systems meet our data before anything in production depends on it.

We give you an overlap period at no charge while you migrate, because paying two vendors during a switch you did not want is a bad reason to stay where you are.

Our engineers sit in a shared channel with yours the whole way through. And because every record carries a stable ID, a full replacement is a mapping job rather than a rebuild.

We have done this under real pressure, too, where some vendors had to shut down and their customers had weeks rather than quarters to move.

So we took them on and came close to matching what they had been paying for the first year. That will never feel like the moment to negotiate.

Customer outcomes

## In 15 years we have never lost a customer because another vendor had better data.

We have lost on price more than once, and our longest customer has been with us for twelve years. We have joined customer fundraising calls to vouch for them, our data has gone into their pitch decks, and we have argued our customers’ case to their own customers.

We have helped financially when someone hit a rough patch. Which is why a one-year deal does not excite us, but a decade does.

Our stance

## So, we are not going to tell you who is worse.

This space is noisy, and most comparison pages you will read are not accurate, including the ones written about us. We would rather not add another one.

If you find somebody who does everything on this page better than we do, work with them.

We are on decent terms with most companies here and we will tell you when one of them fits you better than we would.

Common questions we get

## The frequently asked questions we get most.

How is the data delivered?

Flat file, API, or straight into Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, or Postgres. You get the full dataset once, then a refreshed file every 60 minutes carrying the changes we recorded in that hour.

How fresh is the data?

We update profiles continuously, somewhere around 150 million full profile updates a month, and every profile carries a timestamp for when we last touched it so you never have to take our word for it. Being straight with you, the full US dataset comes around roughly every three months and Europe closer to six. Profiles that matter to the businesses we work with move a good deal more often than that, and if you need one right now, the live scan API refreshes it on demand.

How does pricing work?

One flat rate for hourly update files, with no tiers and no premium plan that unlocks speed. We will be more expensive than some of the names on your list, and we would rather tell you that now than have us both find out on call three. Your price structure is guaranteed, with a predictable annual adjustment.

Are you GDPR and CCPA compliant?

We only collect information that is publicly available. Whether GDPR or CCPA applies, and what it asks of you, depends on how you use the data as well as where it came from, so we will go through your use case with you rather than give you a blanket yes.

What does switching from our current provider involve?

Honestly, some engineering time. What we can do is shorten it, with an overlap period at no charge while you migrate. You also get a start on search access mapped to the fields you already use, stable IDs that turn a full replacement into a mapping job, and our engineers in a shared channel with yours. Ask us for a switching plan against your actual stack and we will write one before you commit to anything.

What does support look like after we sign?

A shared Slack or Teams channel between your engineers and ours, founders included, and no ticket queue.

How do I know where the data is thin?

Fill rates are published field by field on every dataset page, including the fields where we look bad. Start there, then bring us the fields you actually care about and we will pull coverage on those specifically.

Talk to our data team

## Let’s see if we are a fit.

Bring the fields you actually care about and we will pull coverage on those rather than walking you through a general tour.

And if you are already benchmarking us against other vendors, send us the differences. We will go through them and come back and tell you why a given profile differs, including the ones where the answer turns out to be that we are wrong.
